Fragments of Letters about "Singles on Tour- Bachelor Party"

• I was looking for some art-excuses to reflect how women can talk, how they can be independent with their speech. To dress up has some mistery for the women. I dedicate this artwork to my father, Frank del Puerto, the best Cuban Fashion Designer, whom I haven't met since I live in Exile. I remember him talking in his Atelier with every woman about their lives, while he was working on their dresses.

Singles on Tour is a trip. Bachelor Party is the deliverance. I dress women up and listen to what this dress provoques in them. It may be just a gesture, a word, a single sentence... I am not single but I'm still on tour. Every morning when I wake up I ask myself what kind of woman am I going to be: serious (business woman), chic (with hat and a silk scarf), casual (with jeans and T-shirt), conservative (Chanel or Dior), masculine (with a tie), or simply an artist. After measuring my temperature, I get dressed... I start my trip. It doesn`t matter where you come from, who you are, if you want to get married or not.

Let's see what women tell us after a few minutes of wearing a paper dress. These women wrapped up in paper seem to levitate, to float at a couple of inches from the ground. The sound of the paper remembers me that of the sea waves.  I am always looking for some artwork-excuses to keep talking: Reflexion-Reflection.

  1. I try to create a different paper dress for each of the 1010 women, and to highlight the beauty and character of both with my photographs. See more in: PHOTOSHOOTING

  1. It's a photographic, video and installation project which will take about six months of work. It will be exhibited first in my Atelier, and afterwards in every adequate museum or gallery that invites me to show it.

  1. Thanks for paying attention to this project and for spreading the word. Thanks a lot to all participants, those who have been photographed already and those to come.

Mientras, un beso, Elvira, April, 26th 2010
