Elvira Rodríguez Puerto, 1964, La Habana. Cuba.
Her studies (Law, 1987) have little to do with her creativity. She grew up surrounded by artistic talent. Her foster father, Frank del Puerto, was the great fashion designer in the 70's in Cuba. Elvira Rodriguez Puerto works since 20 years as freelance in the fields of literature, performance, photography, theater, music, documentary film and organizing events.
Her work has been honored with several awards in Cuba, in Italy and scholarships in Germany.
In 2003 she was selected for the Berlinale Talent Campus.
In 2007 she founded FICCU, the Cuban International Film Festival, in Munich.
Her masterpiece is the photo and video exhibition "1010 Parchment Brides", an homage to the woman and to her father, which could be seen in the spring of 2011 in Munich and which won´t give her rest until it can be seen all over the world. Since then her projects, of a "huge" creativity, get more and more the interest of the publics. Working with her in a project, be it the development or realization, is a wonderful experience, both from the working and the human aspects.
Elvira Rodríguez Puerto lives since 2003 in exile, in Munich,
her second home town.
She is Mother of Dayi (1985)
and she is married to Javier Buergo since 2007.
In July 2011 she received the German citizenship.
